BOJACK HORSEMAN: THE ENDING FAN ART POSTER
Piercing Blue Design
Bojack Horseman as a show had a lot going for it. Anthropomorphically speaking. There were also some wretchedly funny moments, if you take what is essentially a talking horse and peg him as the villain in his own fame and blame studded life, and his own show – Horsing Around; a show of a show, woah, spiral coming up.
And then, let’s not forget Secretariat.
Anyway, in fadeout, as Bojack and Diane Nguyen are sitting on the roof watching their glittering fifteen minute sparkle begin its long slow sputter-out, I am glad Bojack didn’t die, in the end. There is something redemptive about getting to live through these kinds of realisations: sometimes life is a bitch (b*tch – sorry) and then you keep living. Values of empathy and self-reckoning over self-soothing creeping in at the edges of your thinking before you go, nah, fetch me another beer.
That, and here’s hoping there’s a season 7. A resurrection, a resuscitation. Take me back to Hollywoo!
